The Defence Forces Rifle Association (DEFRA) Pistol Team delivered an impressive performance at the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) League VIII held on 20 September 2026 at the Jockey Club Shooting Range in Nairobi.
The competition brought together some of the country’s leading practical shooters in a demanding contest that tested speed, accuracy, precision and composure under pressure.
Sergeant Agatha Muchiri led DEFRA’s performance by clinching the High Lady Title, while Corporal Martin Musili secured a bronze medal in the Production Division. Their achievements highlighted the team’s consistency, technical proficiency and ability to perform effectively in a highly competitive environment.
Beyond the podium finishes, the tournament provided valuable competitive exposure as DEFRA prepares for upcoming international competitions in South Africa in October 2026 and Thailand in January 2027. The matches enabled the shooters to assess their performance, sharpen their competitive skills and identify areas for improvement ahead of the international engagements.
The results reflect the team’s sustained training, discipline and commitment to maintaining high competitive standards. Participation in such events also provides an important platform for building confidence and strengthening the mental resilience required to compete successfully at higher levels.
With preparations for the international competitions gathering momentum, DEFRA remains focused on refining its performance and building on the gains made at League VIII as the team prepares to represent Kenya on the international stage.
