The spirit of competition within Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has received a significant boost. This follows a sporting welfare support for the Waterworks men’s football team and the Ulinzi Swords women’s netball team.
Through dedicated sponsorship of Defence Forces Welfare Services (DEFWES), the teams were presented with quality sporting kits and essential equipment, marking a vital investment in the physical and mental well-being of the service members. This move shifts focus towards importance of ensuring that those who represent KDF on the field have necessary resources to match their will to perform.
The package addresses technical and logistical needs of the athletes. By providing the sporting gear, DEFWES ensures that the teams can train under professional-grade conditions. The gear presented includes new goalpost nets, footballs, netballs and two sets of uniforms for every player.
The athletes’ welfare is foundational to the success of the teams. As these teams head into their respective competitions, they do so backed by a robust support system dedicated to their growth and excellence in the sporting arena.
DHQ Commandant, Colonel Gideon Bebora, while presenting the gear, urged the service personnel to remain focused, make full use of the equipment and strive for excellence in their competitions.
