FORGING RESILIENCE: WHERE UNITY, ENDURANCE AND PURPOSE CONVERGE

Team cohesion, resilience and environmental responsibility remain critical pillars in enhancing institutional effectiveness and mission success. Beyond technical competence and operational preparedness, the Defence Forces Technical College (DEFTEC) continues to promote activities that strengthen teamwork, leadership, mental resilience and a shared sense of purpose among its personnel.

It was with this in mind that the Commandant DEFTEC Brigadier Ismail Noor, recently led Senior Officers, Officers, Service Members and members of the teaching fraternity in a team-building exercise at Ngong Hills. The exercise provided an opportunity to enhance cohesion, strengthen interpersonal relationships and promote physical and mental endurance among participants.

The exercise commenced with a tree-planting session conducted in partnership with the Kenya Forest Service, in support of the National Climate Resilience Challenge of planting 15 billion trees. The initiative reaffirmed DEFTEC’s commitment to environmental conservation, climate action and sustainable practices. Participants later undertook a challenging 13-kilometre hike across the scenic Ngong Hills, an activity aimed at building teamwork, leadership, perseverance and resilience.

Addressing participants, Brig Noor emphasised the importance of team-building activities in fostering unity of purpose, enhancing productivity and strengthening collaboration in support of the College’s core mandate of developing highly skilled military personnel for the operational effectiveness of the Kenya Defence Forces.

The team-building exercise reaffirmed DEFTEC’s commitment to cultivating a resilient, cohesive and environmentally conscious workforce while advancing excellence in military technical education, training and support to national defence objectives.
