Shortlisted candidates for the position of General Service Officer (GSO) Regular Cadet turned out to undertake this year’s Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment drive at the Kenya Military Academy (KMA) in Lanet, Nakuru.
The hopeful candidates will undergo through evaluation process, after which successful candidates will proceed on to attaining a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Defence and Security Studies after undergoing a stringent three-year training.
Chief Recruitment Officer (CRO), Brigadier Samuel Kimani kicked off the exercise by highlighting KDF’s resolute stance on conducting a free, fair and transparent recruitment exercise.
“We have been mandated to undertake this exercise and select only qualified and suitable candidates for the available slots. Yes, the process is highly competitive and demanding, but I’d like to assure you of our commitment to upholding KDF merit-based values. If successful, it’s here that you will be shaped and molded to develop a strong character, moral integrity, discipline and resilience, becoming a military commander capable of making timely and informed decisions under pressure,” he said.
Reiterating KDF’s stance on transparency and fairness was the recruitment Chief Coordinator Brigadier Alphonce Ndar, who reinforced the CRO’s warning against indulging in recruitment malpractices. He further insisted to those present to avoid any association with bribing and remain keen against conmen selling hopes of recruitment.
He additionally encouraged everyone present at the exercise to report any suspicious activities so as to not only help preserve the KDF’s integrity as an institution but also help bring perpetrators to justice.
