Technology, innovation and responsive logistics are increasingly shaping the ability of modern air forces to sustain operations and maintain mission readiness. Against this evolving operational environment, the Kenya Air Force (KAF) conducted a three-day Logistics Seminar at Moi Air Base (MAB) from 23 to 25 September 2026, focusing on strengthening logistics capabilities through technology, professional knowledge and innovative solutions.
Held at KAF Headquarters, the seminar brought together Formation Commanders, Senior Officers and Officers from various KAF bases and formations to examine emerging trends and practical approaches to modern military logistics.
The Deputy Commander Kenya Air Force, Brigadier Mohamud Farah, representing the Commander Kenya Air Force, Major General Bernard Waliaula, underscored the growing role of technology and locally adaptable solutions in sustaining future air operations.
“The lessons covered on technology in logistics have demonstrated that the future of fleet sustainment will depend not only on adopting modern technologies, but also on our ability to develop and adapt solutions that address our own unique operational challenges,” said Brigadier Farah.
Through presentations delivered by internal and external facilitators, participants explored logistics management, supply chain efficiency, resource optimisation, planning, technology and emerging issues affecting military logistics. Discussions highlighted the need for agile, data-informed and technology-enabled systems capable of responding rapidly to changing operational requirements.
Base Commander Moi Air Base, Brigadier Herbert Wafula, emphasised that effective logistics must translate available resources into operational capability through sound planning, professionalism and accountability.
“Effective logistics is not merely about the availability of resources; it is about ensuring that the right capability reaches the right place at the right time to sustain the mission,” he said.
A key feature of the seminar was the Marketplace of Ideas, which provided an interactive platform for participants to engage subject matter experts, exchange professional experiences and explore innovative responses to contemporary logistics challenges.
The seminar strengthened knowledge-sharing across KAF formations while reinforcing the importance of technology, innovation and efficient resource utilisation in fleet sustainment and mission support.
By integrating emerging technologies with professional expertise and locally developed solutions, the Kenya Air Force continues to strengthen resilient and responsive logistics systems capable of sustaining air operations and enhancing operational readiness.
