The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment team conducted a successful recruitment exercise in Habaswein, Wajir County. The exercise saw a high turnout of prospective candidates who were flanked by numerous spectators eager to witness the process.
The Senior Recruiting Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Elias Gitonga oversaw the exercise noting and thanked the participants for their endeavor and determination to join the KDF. “The high turnout of participants is encouraging, and goes a long way in presenting the public perception of the KDF, we are heartened in knowing that the youth here are patriotic and ready to carry out their national duties” He said. He encouraged the participants to give their best and look forward to a favorable outcome.
Speaking during the exercise, Medical Officer, Lieutenant Colonel (Dr) Stephen Onyango acknowledged the smoothness of the process void of any incidences. The medical examination and lab tests strictly followed the KDF set standards in order to get the best fit candidates for enlistment into the KDF. “The weather here is intensely hot, thus having conducted the exercise without medical hiccups is a success.” He said.
Mr. Shire Hajir, a resident of Habaswein commended the recruitment team for their transparency during the process. He noted that all participants had been given an equal opportunity to go through the process. “We pray for those who are selected and wish them the best. We also urge the KDF to maintain the high standards of integrity across the country” He said.
Mr. AbdiFattah Bashir Ali, was successfully recruited during his second and final attempt at trying out. He noted that the process was free and fair and thanked the KDF team for having taken him through the process with finality. He received a short message through his mobile phone confirming his recruitment into the KDF.
Transparency and fairness in the recruitment process enables KDF to present equal opportunities to the youth while ensuring regional balance. Thus leading to achievement of the KDF’s vision to be a premier, credible and mission capable force deeply rooted in professionalism and as the ultimate line of our defense.
