On 08 February 2026, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops serving in the DIFF area conducted a vital Civil–Military Cooperation (CIMIC) operation to deliver emergency water supplies to the residents of Guled Dere in Diff Sub-County.
The intervention followed a distress call from the local community, which is currently grappling with a severe water crisis as the ongoing drought continues to bite across the region.
While the delivery provided immediate relief to the residents, the effort remains a stop-gap measure. The area requires a consistent and continuous water supply that the troops are currently unable to sustain. The water scarcity is widespread across the Sub-County
The local population expressed sincere gratitude for the KDF’s swift response, but decried the worsening conditions and appealed for further support. The mission highlights the KDF’s unwavering commitment to human security while underscoring the urgent need for a coordinated response from both Government and Non-Governmental Agencies to address the systemic water challenges the community.
