As emerging security threats continue to reshape the global defence landscape, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) remains committed to harnessing innovation, strengthening international partnerships and embracing advanced military technologies to enhance operational readiness.
In pursuit of this commitment, a KDF delegation led by the Director General of Defence National Security Industries, Major General Faustino Mancha Lobaly, recently participated in the African International Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX 2026) held in Lagos, Nigeria.
The four-day exhibition brought together military leaders, defence experts, innovators and industry stakeholders from across the world, providing a strategic platform for exploring emerging technologies, exchanging expertise and fostering cooperation in addressing contemporary security challenges.
Held under the patronage of His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria, AFRIDEX 2026 attracted over 30,000 official delegates from more than 100 countries and 500 exhibiting companies. The exhibition featured an array of next-generation defence capabilities, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), counter-drone systems, cyber defence solutions and advanced battlefield management systems.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, Major General Lobaly attended a high-level ministerial session for heads of delegation, chaired by Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa. The engagement provided a valuable opportunity to advance Kenya’s defence modernisation agenda, deepen strategic partnerships and explore avenues for strengthening local defence industrial capabilities.
KDF’s participation in AFRIDEX 2026 underscored its forward-looking approach to defence modernisation and its determination to leverage technological innovation and international collaboration in building a resilient, adaptable and mission-ready Force.
The engagement further reaffirmed KDF’s commitment to embracing emerging defence capabilities, enhancing operational effectiveness and strengthening partnerships that contribute to regional stability and international security.
