KDF HANDS OVER CLASSROOMS TO MOI FORCES ACADEMY NAIROBI

The Commander Kenya Air Force (KAF), Major General Fatuma Ahmed, officially commissioned newly constructed Junior Secondary School (JSS) classrooms at Moi Forces Academy Nairobi on Wednesday, 14 May 2025. Held within the school grounds, the event underscored the military’s steadfast commitment to advancing education and contributing to national development.

The classrooms, constructed under a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) initiative and funded through the support of the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Charles Kahariri, are designed to strengthen learning infrastructure and address the growing demands brought about by the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) transition.

Welcoming the Chief Guest, Brigadier Bernard Oluoch, the Base Commander of Moi Air Base, applauded all stakeholders for the timely completion of the project’s second phase. He further encouraged the school community to take pride in the new infrastructure and ensure its proper maintenance.

In her remarks, Major General Ahmed highlighted the transformative power of education as a foundation for national development. She reaffirmed the Kenya Air Force’s commitment not only to protecting the nation but also to supporting community-focused initiatives that promote social progress.

“This handover reflects our shared belief that investing in education is investing in the future of our country. We are proud to be part of our learners’ academic journey because the strength and security of a nation are rooted in the quality of its education,” she said.

Tailored to meet the specific needs of the JSS curriculum, the classrooms feature modern learning facilities, enhanced lighting and ventilation, and age-appropriate furnishings that foster a learner-centered environment.
The occasion also included a guided tour of the new facilities, vibrant cultural performances by students, and the formal signing of handover documents.

This milestone marks yet another demonstration of the Kenya Defence Forces’ broader mission to uplift communities through education, infrastructure development, and youth empowerment. Through such strategic collaborations, institutions like Moi Forces Academy Nairobi are better positioned to deliver quality education aligned with Kenya’s Vision 2030 and the priorities of the Ministry of Education.

Expressing her gratitude, the school headmistress, Ms Jacqueline Okwaro, thanked the Kenya Air Force and KDF for their generous support, noting that the new classrooms would significantly reduce congestion and provide a more conducive environment for learning.

“This generous contribution from the Kenya Air Force and the wider KDF truly reflects a shared sense of responsibility. It empowers us to implement the CBC more effectively and offer our learners a modern and nurturing space to excel both academically and socially,” the Principal remarked.

The event was graced by Senior Officers from Kenya Air Force and Defence Headquarters Education Branch, Ms Luley Abdullahi, the representative from the Ministry of Education, Ms Fanice Cheshari ,the representative from the Teachers Service Commission, alongside members of the school’s administration, alumni, teachers, students, and parents.
