KDF HONOURED DURING STATE INVESTITURE CEREMONY

His Excellency Hon. Dr. William Samoei Ruto, CGH, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, on 12 December 2025 conferred national honours upon 881 distinguished Kenyans during the State Honours and Awards Investiture Ceremony held at State House, Nairobi. Among the recipients were the Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Kipkemboi Keter, and the Commander Kenya Air Force, Major General Bernard Waliaula.

Lieutenant General Keter was awarded the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart (MGH) in recognition of his outstanding 35-year military career marked by exemplary service and strategic leadership at the highest levels of the Kenya Defence Forces. Throughout his service, he has held pivotal appointments that have significantly shaped the nation’s military readiness and logistical excellence. His expertise in supply chain management, equipment maintenance, and resource allocation has greatly enhanced operational efficiency while upholding the highest standards of accountability and integrity. His contributions have strengthened Kenya Army capabilities, improved cost-effectiveness systems, and laid enduring foundations for future military operations.

Major General Bernard Waliaula was also conferred the Moran of the Order of the Golden Heart (MGH) in recognition of his distinguished 38-year military career, a testament to excellence, resilience, and unwavering patriotism. His leadership has been instrumental in the success of air operations, the strengthening of Kenya’s air defence capabilities, and the mentorship of generations of service members. Beyond his military duties, Major General Waliaula has contributed to national heritage through his chairmanship of the Technical Committee for the Development of the Kenya Home and Human Museums and the Science Park in the Lake Turkana Basin.

In addition, Sergeant Erastus Misiku was awarded the Silver Star (SS) of Kenya in recognition of his courage, decisive action, and selfless commitment in saving the life of his Officer Commanding. He demonstrated remarkable bravery in the face of significant personal risk while serving as a sniper deployed under the African Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), Sector 6.

The conferment of State Honours and Awards is a formal presidential process established under Chapter 216A of the Laws of Kenya, aimed at recognising individuals whose distinguished service, integrity, and excellence set a lasting standard of duty and honour for the nation.
