The Kenya Sports Shooting team, composed of shooters drawn from Kenya Defence Forces, National Police Service and Kenya Rifle Regiment Club recently participated in the Fulbore National Rifle Association 156th Imperial Meeting in Bisley UK, which brings together shooting teams/clubs and shooters from the host country (UK), Kenya, Australia, Canada, South Africa, USA, New Zealand among other countries.
The team demonstrated excellent form in both team and individual categories, marking one of Kenya’s best international performances. The team was led by Chef-de-Mission, Brigadier Elijah Gatere of KDF.
KDF fielded eight shooters who recorded strong performances across various categories at individual events. In particular, Senior Sergeant (SSgt) Brenda Ajiambo had the 2nd highest score of 50.9v out of possible 50.10V in the Canon Doyle trophy (900Yards). In the same category, Fariah Muhamed, had a score of 50.6 V.
Equally, SSgt Maingi emerged among the 300 elite shooters who qualified for the second stage of Kings trophy out of 800 participants Whereby he scored a total of 143.12Vs out of150.15.
Further, in the daily mail trophy (500Yards) and Alexandra trophy (600 Yards) Ssgt Gitonga was among the best shooters with 149. 4V and 149.9v respectively out of the possible 150.15 V.
Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Joyce Chebii and WO2 Mutua were also among the best shooters in Times Trophy (300Yards) scoring 49.6V and 149.4v respectively out of possible 50.10V.
Further, WO2 Maina, Ssgt Muneene and Sgt Longorien posted their best scores marking improvement from the Kenya Open Target Rifle championship held in Nanyuki, in April 2025.
