KDF TEAM CONDUCTS LEADERSHIP ENGAGEMENT AND MEDICAL OUTREACH IN HOOSINGO

A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) team serving under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) conducted a Key Leadership Engagement (KLE) and a medical outreach in Hoosingo town on 29 July 2025.

The engagement brought together key community stakeholders, including Shaghal elders, local administrative officials, Somalia security forces, and KDF leadership in the region.

KDF officers expressed gratitude to the Hoosingo community for their unwavering support during their deployment in the area and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the foundations laid by their predecessors. “We look forward to working closely with the community to enhance security and foster stronger relations,” the officers stated.

Community leaders—including elders, the District Officer, and representatives of the Somalia security forces in the region—welcomed the KDF team and assured them of continued cooperation. They also commended the KDF for their steadfast commitment to improving security and implementing Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) initiatives that have positively impacted livelihoods in Hoosingo and its environs.

During a familiarization tour of the town, local leaders highlighted several priority areas requiring support, including the completion of school infrastructure, expansion of the local dispensary, and improvements to the water supply system.

In conjunction with the KLE session, a KDF medical team conducted a medical outreach at the Hoosingo Dispensary. The initiative, part of ongoing CIMIC efforts under AUSSOM, provided essential medical services to scores of residents.

The outreach aimed at strengthening trust, fostering goodwill, and enhancing collaboration between the security forces and the local community.
