Strengthening intelligence cooperation, joint operational planning and inter-agency coordination remains central to countering evolving terrorist threats and enhancing regional security. The strategic partnership between Kenya, the United Kingdom and the United States continues to advance these priorities through integrated intelligence capabilities and coordinated counter-terrorism efforts.
The partnership was reinforced during a visit to the Combined Joint Inter-Agency Task Force (CJIATF) at Manda by the British High Commissioner to Kenya, Matthew Baugh OBE, accompanied by Deputy High Commissioner Ed Barnett and British Defence Adviser Brigadier Olly Bryant.
During the engagement, the delegation received an operational briefing on the Centre’s capabilities, mission execution and contribution to counter-terrorism operations under Operation Amani Boni (OAB). Discussions focused on intelligence fusion, real-time information sharing, joint operational planning and inter-agency coordination as critical enablers of intelligence-led security operations.
High Commissioner Baugh commended the trilateral security partnership, recognising CJIATF’s role in strengthening operational coordination and supporting effective responses to terrorist threats. He reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to advancing the Centre’s capabilities in response to the evolving operational requirements of Special Operations.
The OAB Commander, Brigadier Meshack Kishoyan, and CJIATF Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ronald Magut, welcomed the engagement, highlighting the Centre’s contribution to enhanced situational awareness, intelligence sharing and coordinated operational planning.
They underscored the importance of integrated security efforts in strengthening operational effectiveness and supporting the execution of Operation Amani Boni’s counter-terrorism mandate.
The visit reaffirmed the strategic value of the Kenya–UK–US security partnership in building interoperable capabilities, strengthening intelligence-led operations and enhancing collective responses to terrorism.
Through sustained intelligence cooperation, operational coordination and strategic partnerships, Kenya and its international partners continue to reinforce counter-terrorism capabilities and contribute to lasting peace, security and stability in the region.
