KENYA NAVY HOSTS SCHOOLS FOR EDUCATIONAL VISITS

In a bid to create maritime security awareness, the Kenya Navy hosted learners from several educational institutions for educational visits at the Kenya Navy Base (KNB) in Mtongwe. The institutions included Moi Forces Academy Junior Secondary-Nairobi, Kyandu Bright School, Seven Forks Primary School, St. Joseph Kyale Primary and Junior School, JCC Calvary Academy Gongoni School, Nairobi Primary and Junior School and Mukuuni High School staff.

These visits offered learners a valuable opportunity to gain practical exposure to maritime security and operations while also learning about potential career paths within the Kenya Navy.

During the visits, the learners toured the Full Mission Bridge Simulator (FMBS) at the Kenya Naval Training College (KNTC). The FMBS simulates a ship’s bridge providing a realistic experience for training Navy officers, sailors and other maritime agencies.

They also visited the Damage Control Unit, where they learned about on board safety procedures and emergency response tactics and first-hand repair and maintenance operations at the dockyard workshop.

Additionally, the visits included interactive sessions with Kenya Navy professionals, followed by sea rides on board Kenya Navy Ships (KNS) JASIRI and SHUJAA, providing the learners with an authentic glimpse into life at sea.
