Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops serving under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) and deployed at Kismayo New Aairport Main Operating Base conducted a medical outreach at Sharif Adha village located within the outskirts of Kismayo on 18 December 2025.
Led by KDF Officers, the outreach team offered vital medical services to local residents, underscoring a commitment to humanitarian assistance and closer community engagement. The effort centered on vulnerable populations, particularly women, children, and the elderly, who often lack reliable access to healthcare.
During the outreach, tens of locals were treated for various ailments, common ailments include; urinary tract infections, upper respiratory tract infection and tinea capitis in children. Additionally, the KDF medical team offered vital health education sessions on nutrition, maternal care, disease prevention, and hygiene practices, with special attention to expectant and nursing mothers.
The outreach forms part of AUSSOM-KDF’s broader commitment to peace support operations, extending beyond security duties to include humanitarian and social development efforts that help promote lasting peace and stability across Somalia.
