As an illustration of continued community engagement, Kenya Signals Company 3 (KENSIG 3) troops deployed under the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO) visited Mama Oliver Kabila Orphanage in Goma on January 1st 2026.
The visit presented an opportunity for meaningful interactions as the troops spent time with the children engaging in singing, games and shared refreshments. The troops also presented assorted donations to support the welfare of the children, reaffirming their commitment to addressing the host community welfare matters, besides providing security.
While addressing the children, the Officer Commanding Major Stephen Otieno encouraged them to remain disciplined and focused on their education. He emphasized the importance of leading a morally upright life, noting that education and discipline are key pillars to becoming responsible and impactful members of the society.
“This New Year should inspire you to dream big, work hard in school and remain disciplined so that you can positively shape your community and nation in the future,” noted Major Otieno.
Madam Navisa Munganga, the Orphanage Director, expressed gratitude to the troops for their continued support and compassion.
“We are deeply thankful to the Kenyan troops for remembering our children time and again. Their visits bring hope, joy and encouragement to the children,” she remarked.
The visit builds on the previous engagements as the Kenyan peacekeepers have consistently extended humanitarian support and mentorship to the children hosted at the facility.
