SECURING STRATEGIC DEFENCE ASSETS

SECURING STRATEGIC DEFENCE ASSETS

Military land remains a critical strategic asset that supports national security, operational readiness, training, force deployment, and the development of essential defence infrastructure. Effective protection and management of military land require strong collaboration among relevant institutions to safeguard these assets for current and future defence needs.

To strengthen this collective effort, the Kenya Defence Forces Ministerial Ad Hoc Committee on Military Lands, led by its Chairman, Brigadier (Rtd) Foustine Sirera, paid a courtesy call on the Chairperson of the National Land Commission (NLC), Dr. Abdillahi Saggaf Alawy, who was accompanied by fellow commissioners.

The engagement provided an opportunity for the committee to brief the Commission on key issues affecting military land and explore areas where the NLC can support interventions aimed at protecting, managing, and preserving strategic defence assets.

The meeting underscored the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing challenges such as land encroachment and competing land-use demands. It also reaffirmed a shared commitment to ensuring that military land remains secure, protected, and available to support the operational requirements of the Kenya Defence Forces now and in the future.
