Moi Forces Academy-Lanet on 10th May 2025 launched the Aviation Technology subject, becoming the first National Girls School to offer it in the country. The event themed “Demystifying Aviation” saw the school acquire a fully functional training aircraft which will henceforth provide the over 50 students currently enrolled for the subject a practical exposure to aviation operations.
The Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General David Tarus who is also the school’s Chairperson of the Board of Management, and the Commander Kenya Air Force Major General Fatuma Ahmed graced the event and emphasized the subject’s potential to equip learners with skills for careers in aeronautical engineering, aviation security and air traffic control.
The Nakuru County education officials present appreciated the initiative noting that the subject falls under the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) category in the Competency Based Education. They further encouraged the girls to pursue this category of scholarly fields noting that their participation would shatter stereotypes and pave the way for a more inclusive and dynamic future in technology and engineering.
Mrs. Mary Njogu, the school’s Chief Principal, thanked the Kenya Defence Forces’ leadership for the continued support as she highlighted the importance of the subject in inspiring students and preparing them for careers in the aviation industry.
