ENHANCING CHILD WELFARE

ENHANCING CHILD WELFARE

Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities continue to have a positive impact within the Boni Enclave, particularly through engagements in schools that promote the welfare, education, and well-being of the children. This was evident at Kauthara Primary School in Lamu during the commemoration of the Day of the African Child.

Held under the theme, “Ensuring universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene for every child in Africa,” the activity brought out the importance of creating a healthy and conducive learning environment for every child.

In support of this year’s theme, KDF troops from 6 Brigade, deployed under Operation Amani Boni (OAB) in partnership with American Civil Affairs, donated bags of maize flour, rice, sanitation kits, Water and sanitary pads to support learners’ welfare and enhance hygiene standards within the school.

The CIMIC team led KDF commanders also engaged pupils in an interactive session on the significance of the Day of the African Child, emphasizing the importance of education, personal hygiene, and the role children play in shaping the future of their communities and the nation.

Speaking during the event, the Deputy Head teacher Mrs. Carol Belesa expressed gratitude to the troops for their generosity and continued support to the school. She noted that the donated items would greatly benefit the learners and help address some of the challenges faced by the institution. She further commended the initiative, stating that such engagements not only improve the welfare of the pupils but also inspire them to remain focused on their education.

Ultimately the outreach did not only address some of the immediate needs within the school but also reinforced the spirit of the Day of the African Child by promoting the health, dignity, and empowerment of learners. Through such initiatives, CIMIC continues to strengthen community relations while making a meaningful difference in the lives of children within the Boni Enclave.
