The participants of the Senior Joint Command and Staff Course (SJCSC 41-2025/26) from the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) conducted an educational visit to the Western Command Headquarters in Gilgil on 24 February 2026. The visit was led by Major General Eric Kinuthia, Commandant Joint Command and Staff College, accompanied by Brigadier David Chesire, Deputy Commandant and Chief Instructor, along with heads of departments and Directing Staff. The aim of the visit was to provide course participants with practical familiarization of the setup, organization and operational functions of a Joint Task Force (JTF) in the field.
Upon arrival, the JCSC delegation was warmly welcomed by Major General Jeff Nyaga, General Officer Commanding (GOC) Western Command, together with senior officers and staff deployed at Western Command Headquarters. In his remarks, the GOC Western Command emphasized the critical importance of joint and multinational operations in addressing the increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous security environment.
Participants received a comprehensive briefing on the organization and key functions of JTF West. This was followed by a guided tour of a static display simulating a JTF deployed in the field, offering valuable insights into real operational configurations and procedures.
