DAC VISITS TROOPS

The Deputy Army Commander, Major General Mohamed Hassan, visited Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops in the Wajir and Moyale areas, on 10 and 11 December 2025.

Maj Gen Hassan was received by Colonel Daniel Muange Musau in Wajir and later inspected a guard of honour that was mounted by KDF troops based in the region. He received a briefing on the Security situation, operational matters and Personnel and logistical issues.

The key purpose of the visit was the progress of the Wajir Multi-Agency Command Centre and the Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project which is a Strategic project with its security being provided by Close Ops personnel.

Addressing the troops, Maj Gen Hassan conveyed festive greetings from the Chief of the Defence Forces, Gen Charles Kahariri, and the Kenya Army Commander, Lt Gen David Keter. He commended the troops for their commitment to the mission and reaffirmed the Army’s focus on readiness, discipline and the welfare of its soldiers. He appreciated the effort by Service Personnel in achieving the mission goals amid scarce resources and serving in a vast AOR.

He emphasized on training and improving one’s marksmanship citing the recently concluded Army Rifle Championship.

Maj Gen Hassan underscored the importance of welfare systems within the military, stressing that soldiers must ensure 100% compliance in Will writing and joining DESSACO. Further, he reiterated on personnel living within their means. As a wise counsel, he advised the Svc pers to give their children the best education as a way of ensuring their well-being.

On the care of equipment, DAC emphasized on responsibility of everyone to ensure full utilization of the readily available equipment.
