The Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) Karen, today hosted Lieutenant General David Ketter, the Commander of the Kenya Army, who delivered a lecture to participants of the Senior Joint Command and Staff Course, SJCSC 41-2025/26. Upon arrival, Lieutenant General Ketter was warmly received by Major General Eric Kinuthia (College Commandant), accompanied by Brigadier David Chesire (Deputy Commandant/Chief Instructor) and heads of departments.
The lecture, titled “Logistics: A Pillar of Strategy in Global Shifts in the Modern Battlefield,” provided participants with critical insights into the evolving role of logistics in contemporary military operations. The Commander contextualized the session against the backdrop of a rapidly changing global logistics environment, characterized by a core paradigm shift and the need for resilient, adaptable and responsive technology driven sustainment systems.
The Commander emphasized the importance of aligning strategic military sustainment with the realities of the modern battlefield. He urged participants to master both the challenges and innovative solutions in this domain, highlighting the “just enough” logistics concept that prioritizes efficiency, precision and resource optimization without compromising operational effectiveness.
Addressing specific African military logistics challenges, the commander underscored the value of regional cooperation, particularly the sharing of logistics hubs, as a practical and sustainable solution to enhance collective readiness and interoperability.
The session concluded with a lively interactive question and answer session, during which course participants engaged the Commander on practical applications of the lecture’s themes.
