On 24th September 2025, the Deputy Managing Commissioner and Chief Operations Officer at Kenya Meat Commission, Brigadier C. K. Nyakundi, led the management, military and civilian staff of the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) in a tree planting exercise at the Commission’s headquarters in Athi River.
The event, held under the theme “Citizen-Centric Tree Growing and Environmental Stewardship,” is part of ongoing national efforts to combat climate change and promote environmental sustainability.
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has designated every fourth Wednesday of the month as a dedicated tree growing day and targeting to plant 50 million trees by the year 2032.
