STRENGTHENING COMMUNITY WELFARE THROUGH HUMANITARIAN OUTREACH

As security institutions increasingly embrace community-centered approaches to peace, stability and national cohesion, humanitarian outreach initiatives continue to play a critical role in strengthening trust and fostering meaningful engagement with local populations. Beyond their operational mandate, security agencies remain key partners in promoting social welfare, compassion and resilience within communities.

On 27th May 2026 security agencies in Wajir County conducted a joint community service and medical outreach programme in the spirit of Eid al Adha and in preparation for the forthcoming Madaraka Day celebrations. The initiative underscored the values of compassion, sharing and service while reaffirming the commitment of the security agencies to supporting vulnerable members of society.

The outreach programme, led by Base Commander Wajir Air Base (WAB), Colonel Abdi Hussein, brought together various security agencies in a unified effort to support learners at Wajir School for the Deaf and inmates at Wajir Prison through humanitarian assistance and medical services.

During the exercise, the security agencies donated assorted food supplies, educational materials and sanitary items aimed at improving the welfare and living conditions of the beneficiaries. Medical services were also provided, enhancing the humanitarian impact of the initiative while promoting health and wellbeing among the targeted groups.

The programme reflected the growing recognition that sustainable security is strengthened not only through operational readiness, but also through meaningful community engagement and social responsibility. By extending support to vulnerable groups, the security agencies demonstrated solidarity with the people of Wajir County while reinforcing the importance of compassion and shared responsibility in nation-building.

The outreach further highlighted the strong partnership between Wajir Air Base, collaborating security agencies and the local community, showcasing how coordinated humanitarian initiatives can foster goodwill, strengthen civil-security relations and contribute to social cohesion.

As the country prepares to mark Madaraka Day, the initiative served as a reminder of the enduring role played by security agencies in advancing both national security and community welfare through service, care and inclusive engagement.
