In a powerful demonstration of civil-military collaboration, the Kenya Navy Hospital partnered with Cigna Healthcare to deliver a life-changing medical outreach programme in Likoni Sub-County, Mombasa County. The initiative, held at Mwangala Primary School, attracted hundreds of residents seeking accessible and quality healthcare services.
Led by Chief of Naval Medical Services, Brigadier (Dr) Justino Muinde, the outreach brought together a multidisciplinary team of specialists in general medicine, dental care, ENT, public health, and nutrition. Working alongside Cigna Healthcare professionals, the team provided free consultations, diagnoses, and treatment for a wide range of conditions—delivering critical support to underserved populations.
The programme extended beyond clinical care, offering essential medical supplies, prescribed medication, and nutritious foodstuffs to vulnerable members of the community. In a further show of commitment to public welfare, Kenya Navy personnel conducted a clean-up exercise at the school, improving the learning environment while fostering community pride and cohesion.
Recognising the importance of preventive healthcare, the outreach also facilitated the distribution of clean drinking water, reinforcing hygiene and disease prevention efforts within the community.
This initiative underscores the Kenya Navy’s enduring dedication to community well-being and highlights the transformative impact of strategic partnerships in advancing public health and social resilience.
