In his opening remarks the VCGS observed that apart from the diverse cultures and attractive sceneries the East Africa has to offer, it faces numerous challenges and for years Africa as a whole has been defined by conflicts of all forms from ethnic tensions to inter and intra states conflicts.

He further noted that it is paramount therefore, that any efforts to train present and future peace missions leaders on aspects of leadership and management is critical in promoting peace and stability within the region.

The course attendants are drawn from the military, the police and the civilian fraternity within the region. It will end on the 12 of February 2010.
